Greetings!Lee Hamel

As summer 2016 comes to an end I wanted to remind you of some new Department of Labor (DOL) posting requirements that took effect August 1, 2016.

For your convenience I am posting links to the DOL website where you can download the new posters if you have not previously done so.

Also, OSHA has called into question mandatory post-accident drug screenings and published a new final rule that could have an adverse impact on employer policies that call for mandatory post-accident drug screens.

Although the new rule is in effect as of August 10, 2016 for all employers, OSHA has stated it will not enforce the rule until November 1, 2016.

And for employers in Illinois who are covered by the Family and Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”) there is a new law that became effective July 29, 2016 entitled The Child Bereavement Leave Act. This new Act provides up to two weeks (10 working days) of unpaid leave.
