What a great story. Sorry to hear about this. It's amazing how pets can make such a difference in peoples lives. Gus sounds like one of those pets.

Unfortunately, with freedom of speech, the internet has allowed many to vent their feelings and frustrations - many doing so without thinking about the consequences of doing so. Whether it is an employer who sees it or a future employer who is doing a background screening of a potential hire - venting about your supervisor on-line is NEVER a good idea.

However, companies must ensure that they have effective, skilled managers that know how to communicate with their team appropriately which makes for a better work environment for all.

Personal experience has shown me that someone who you think is going to be a great employee can turn instantly into an employee from &$#@ once their probationary period is up. Probationary periods give employers a quick peek but sometimes a longer period is needed to assess an individual's true character - this is where using a temp service helps protect companies to obtain the cream of the crop employees.

Use a temp agency. This gives businesses the unique opportunity to find the perfect match for the needs at hand. If one temp doesn't work out, the business hasn't been out many hours and dollars on a wrong fit.
